West Bengal State Science & Technology Congress

32ND WEST BENGAL STATE SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY CONGRESS (WBSSTC)

The West Bengal Science and Technology Congress started its journey in the year 1994 with the goals of fostering scientific temper in young minds and providing a platform for researchers and scientists for sharing their experiences and research findings for promotion of the science and technology in the State. Since then, it is being organised as an annual congregation of students, scientists, researchers, academicians, technocrats and policy-makers for dissemination of the new scientific ideas and innovations in diverse fields of Science and Technologies that are being harnessed for the benefit of the people.

Up to 2016, it was centrally organized by the Department. Since 2017, it is being organized in a phased manner and the State Congress is preceded by the Regional Congresses. The two-day program of the State Science and Technology Congress generally accommodates the technical sessions involving the presentation of research papers by young scientists, memorial lectures and invited lectures on the challenging issues and their scientific solutions in the respective fields.

The budding scientists and research scholars are felicitated with awards and cash prizes for their outstanding papers. Besides, different State Awards are handed over to the achievers from different walks of life for their outstanding contribution to the field of Science popularisation in the State.

7th REGIONAL SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY CONGRESS

As a precursor to the 32nd West Bengal State Science and Technology Congress, the 7th Regional Science and Technology Congress will be organized at six different Regions of the State in collaboration with the following esteemed Universities / Colleges for extending a wider scope of participation to the aspiring researchers and scholars. The Regional Congress will also be a two-day program and accommodate similar events like State level Congress. Authors selected at the Regional level will be invited to participate at the State Level.
