The West Bengal State Science & Technology Congress (WBSSTC) is one of the major flagship programs of the Department of Science and Technology and Biotechnology, Government of West Bengal. It provides a prestigious platform for scientists, researchers, scholars, and academicians to share their research findings, exchange new scientific ideas, and promote innovations in various fields of science and technology that align with societal needs. WBSSTC also ignites scientific temperament in young minds and promotes the cause of science in the State.
WBSSTC is not only an annual congregation of the scientists, researchers, academicians and scholars of the State and beyond, but it also marks a celebration of eternal curiosity and the creativity of human minds. With Memorial lectures, invited lectures, and technical sessions, it provides unique opportunities to interact with the eminent scientists and stalwarts which helps the young researchers to propel their ideas in the right direction.
WBSSTC strengthens the ecosystem of the science and technological environment of the state, it reflects the Department’s commitment to building a knowledge-driven society, empowering youth, and addressing pressing issues through scientific advancement and innovation.
The West Bengal State Science & Technology Congress (WBSSTC) started its journey in 1994 with the vision of creating a scientific temperament, popularising science, nurturing young minds, and fostering scientific research that meets societal needs. Over the years, it has become one of the most prestigious scientific congregations of the State, drawing participation from various institutions/organisations and providing opportunities for knowledge-sharing, recognition, and innovation.
To ensure wide participation, the Congress is organised in two stages:
Will be held in three regions of the state in collaboration with reputed institutions, providing opportunities to researchers, scientists, scholars, and academicians of the State.
Selected researchers from the Regional Congress will present their papers in twelve technical sessions at the State level.
